EXPLORING SALT LAKE CITY - KEN SANDERS RARE BOOKS

9.27.2018

I'm so excited to share this special place with y'all today. When we first moved to Salt Lake we saw this place as we were driving to a concert and I made Charlie promise that we would come back to this incredible looking place. We finally popped in there and IT WAS INCREDIBLE! I'm already planning my next trip over there.

From the outside KS's Rare Books looks like an awesome antique building. On the side of the building is a built in bookcase full of books. There was a cart out front with books that were $1. More on those later!!

Once you enter the door you get a glimpse of just how BIG it is in there. There are wall to wall books. The staff is so incredibly friendly and answered all the questions I had. The best way I can describe it is to plan to make a day of being here.

My husband and I took a few hours just admiring the shelves and searching for hidden treasures. The selection here isn't limited to just rare books, they have some newer books too. They offer an incredibly diverse selection, from books about art, to mystery, to religious books. They have tons of atlases. I could have spent much longer just searching and searching. There are so many books I didn't know I wanted until I was in that store.

Ken Sander's Rare Books is open Monday - Saturday 10 - 6 and Sundays 12 - 5.
They are located at 268 S 200 E, Salt Lake City.
Visit their website HERE for more information.

Now for what I bought. This fall I'm going to try to read as many Stephen King books as I can, but the Stephen King selection here was a little slim. I did score Bag of Bones hardcover for $10. What I was most excited for was in their $1 bins I found a lot of vintage (can I say vintage if it's from my childhood?) children's books. They all look practically new and I plan on changing out the batteries in the Hunchback of Notre Dame book so future baby Fritz can play with that too. The Pippi Longstocking books were in a 3 pack for $10 and there were more there that I plan on picking up too.

My husband found several books that he had been searching for too, so it was a good trip!
